We didn’t edit the Netflix feature produced by Spike Lee and directed by Stefon Bristol — but we did cut the short film that started it all. Stefon came to us in New York with a script and no real budget. We saw the spark immediately, trusted our gut, and jumped in to edit and post-produce the film. The short hit the festival circuit, won awards, and eventually caught Spike Lee’s attention. A year later, Netflix released the $4 million feature adaptation. Did they offer us the feature? Hell yeah. Could we do it? Nope — U.S. immigration had other plans. We called it from the start, though. Let someone else have the fame. We got the story.
